A Transcript/Study Guide accompanies our studies. In it you will find: (1) a complete transcript of the audio teaching with presentation of its scriptures and definitions of the Hebrew and Greek words involved; (2) the different Greek words that are used in the Gospels and New Testament regarding prayer; (3) footnotes and appendices with enlightening information that is not covered in the audio, and (4) a list of resources for further study.
Some questions about praying that are answered in the Talk about the Wonderful Works of God! series are:
- In Luke 6:12, it is recorded that Jesus Christ prayed all night. What in the world did he talk to God about ALL NIGHT LONG?
- The Gospel of John ended in chapter 21, verse 25 with this amazing information, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written”; so, were Jesus Christ’s accomplishments tied to his prayer life? Can I accomplish greater things via a fuller prayer life?
- It is written in Matthew 6:8, “...your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him,” and Philippians 4:19 states, “But my God shall supply all your need,” so why ask Him for it? Why talk to Him about it? Why pray?
- 1 John 5:14-15 declares, “This is the confidence that we have in Him [God], that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” I am supposed to pray according to God’s will. What is His will? How much of His will do I know and understand? Are there more benefits from God that I should pursue through my prayers?
- We know the King James Version (published in 1611) and other versions are translated from all these extant Greek texts, so what are the different Greek words for prayer / praying and what are their meanings?
